National Sängerfest 2013

Wisconsin Center, Milwaukee Theatre, and US Cellular Arena

June 21, 2013 - June 22, 2013

Milwaukee will be alive with the sound of music when The North American National Saengerfest returns in Spring, 2013. The event, held every three years, has a rich history in Milwaukee dating to 1886.

The musical extravaganza will feature German and Austrian singing societies from around the country drawing about 3,000 people, occupying 4,500 total hotel room nights and pumping an estimated $2.8 million into the local economy.

The two-day festival is held every three years to celebrate German culture through song.

The National Saengerfest has a longstanding history with the city of Milwaukee as far back as 1886, when additional  cars were added to trains into the city to accommodate the increase in passengers coming to see Saengerfest. The saloons and restaurants in the city were used as headquarters for each singing society because the hotels were packed to over capacity with songsters and guests.
